China, U.S. start economic, trade talks in Madrid
The Chinese and U.S. delegations convened here on Sunday for talks on economic and trade issues.
In the coming days, the two sides will discuss issues such as the U.S. unilateral tariff measures, the abuse of export controls and TikTok, a spokesperson with China's Ministry of Commerce said on Friday.
The Chinese delegation is headed by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

The 2025 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) concluded in Beijing on Sunday with over 900 signed agreements in sectors including construction, information technology and finance, highlighting robust global participation and digital trade innovation.
Held at the city's Shougang Park, the event drew participants from more than 60 countries and over 20 international organizations. Fortune Global 500 companies, unicorns, and industry-leading companies unveiled 198 achievements in fields such as artificial intelligence, fintech, healthcare and green technology.
Qatar to host emergency Arab-Islamic summit on Israeli attack
Qatar announced on Saturday that it will host an emergency Arab-Islamic summit on September 15 to discuss the recent Israeli attack on Doha.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari told Qatar News Agency that foreign ministers from Arab and Islamic countries will convene on Sunday to prepare a draft statement for the leaders' meeting.
Al Ansari stressed that the summit comes at a significant moment, reflecting Arab and Islamic solidarity with Qatar in confronting what he described as the "cowardly Israeli aggression" targeting the residences of several Hamas leaders in Doha.
Iran's FM warns European powers not to reinstate sanctions
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi warned Saturday that European powers would "lose it all" if they move to reinstate international sanctions on Tehran under the "snapback" mechanism.
Araghchi issued the warning in a post on X in response to last month's decision by France, Germany and Britain to trigger the process that could restore United Nations Security Council sanctions lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal.
The "snapback" clause in the agreement, formally called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), allows parties to reimpose sanctions if Iran fails to comply with its commitments.

About 300,000 people have fled Gaza City as Israel intensified strikes, Israel's Army Radio reported on Sunday, citing security officials.
Israeli attacks, mainly in the northern Gaza Strip, killed at least 68 Palestinians and wounded 346 others in the past 24 hours, Gaza's health ministry said on Sunday.
The strikes destroyed at least two multi-storey buildings in Gaza City, including one belonging to the Islamic University that was sheltering displaced people. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz shared a video on social media showing the university building being bombed and collapsing.
Hamas official says prisoner swap negotiations suspended after Israel's attack on Doha
Hamas said on Sunday it had suspended talks on a prisoner swap with Israel after accusing Israel of targeting its negotiating delegation in the Qatari capital Doha last week.
"Negotiations cannot continue if the delegation responsible for them is attacked inside the country acting as mediator," Tahir al-Nono, a senior Hamas official, said in a statement.
